Position Inc has developed and delivered numerous DP related courses for a wide range of end users. A range of stand alone courses are available to suit operational marine roles such as DP Operators and DP Watch-keeping Engineers. Courses for non marine roles including shore based managers, charterers and other users of DP vessels are also available.
Customised project specific courses can be developed on request.
The DP Familiarisation Course is tailored to suit industry professionals involved in the delivery of projects utilizing DP vessels in non marine operational roles e.g. Field Engineers, Project Managers, Offshore Construction/Installation Managers, Dive/ROV/Drilling Supervisors, Project Shift/Bridge Supervisors, Marine Warranty Surveyors
Participants will understand the components that make up a DP system, its practical use, as well as the effects of system failures and redundancy concepts. The course highlights key guidelines affecting all types of DP operations, and analyses practical aspects of common DP vessel applications through real world case studies. By combining these elements, participants will understand how to best utilise DP equipped vessels, as well as understand their limitations, for consistent delivery of incident free DP operation. The DP Familiarisation for Watch Keeping (DP Technical Course) is designed for DP technical staff (Chief and Watchkeeping Engineers, or Electricians) currently working, or seeking to work on dynamically positioned vessels.
The course provides the theoretical and practical knowledge to satisfy the recommendations made in IMCA M 117 The Training and Experience of Key DP Personnel, STCW Part B, Section B-V/f, and MSC Circ. 1580.
Participants will understand the technical elements of the DP system; steps to prevent loss of position; exposures and risks of inspection, repair and maintenance; and ways to safely conduct a range of activities utilising DP vessels.
This course can also be tailored to be delivered directly to crew onboard a DP vessel.
This course is designed for Project Managers, Charterers, Marine Surveyors, involved in the procurement, mobilisation and use of DP vessels for offshore construction projects; Vessel Masters, DP Operators and Engineers seeking further professional development would also benefit. Participants will obtain and overview of contemporary industry risks impacting safe DP operations, and will be presented with a number of control measures available to mitigate them.
Risk control measures at all stages of project delivery will be addressed, including pre-hire, mobilisation, and project delivery. This includes steps to prevent loss of position; the exposures and risks of vessel inspection, repair and maintenance; and ways to safely conduct a range of activities utilising DP vessels.
